It’s a small revolution on the side of Kindle, since the reading light from Amazon will (finally!) become ePub compatible.

But, there is a but “.

ePub on Amazon Kindle, yes but…

Amazon has always taken pleasure in never supporting the ePub format for its Kindle e-readers. The American giant notably preferred the .mobi or .azw formats, a way for him to force readers to go through his own sales platform to acquire his books.

Fortunately, software like Caliber makes it possible to modify a file in ePub format to make it compatible with Kindle readers, but this is not always within everyone’s reach. Today, we learn that Kindle readers will finally be compatible with the ePub format… but not natively. It is the Send to Kindle application which will indeed support the ePub format, to convert it into a new format compatible with Amazon readers.

Good news therefore for all owners of an Amazon e-reader, who will therefore no longer necessarily have to perform tedious manipulations to make a new ebook freshly downloaded outside the Amazon ecosystem compatible with their e-reader. However, this Send to Kindle update is obviously not expected before the end of this year 2022.
