Until now reserved for new subscribers, the eSIM offer of free mobile opens (finally!) to all.

Former subscribers can currently request an eSIM migration, provided that they transit via WhatsApp or Free Proxi for the time being.

Free Mobile, the eSIM (finally!) for everyone?

For two years now, Free Mobile has allowed its customers to opt for an eSIM. One (important) condition, however, to benefit from this option: to be a new subscriber. But at the end of 2022, it seems that all Free Mobile subscribers, new and old, are able to opt for this format.

As a reminder, the eSIM is irremovable and integrated directly into a smartphone. As a result, mobile phone operators no longer have to send a physical SIM card to be housed in the mobile, but can download information in OTA to the smartphone via this virtual SIM card.

An imminent deployment

Good news if you are a subscriber to the Free Mobile network, and want to benefit from an eSIM format. Indeed, according to our colleagues fromUniverseFreeboxthe operation is not yet integrated into the customer area, but is nevertheless available via WhatsApp customer service or Free Proxi.

From then on, the user receives a procedure to follow, which allows him to activate the new eSIM Free Mobile on his smartphone. An eSIM billed at 10 euros, the price of a classic SIM card. The procedure is almost immediate, and simply requires scanning a QR Code before entering a confirmation code.

It remains to be seen now when the option will be offered directly from the Free Mobile customer area, but that would only be “ only a matter of days or weeks “. Obviously, it goes without saying that it is imperative to have an eSIM compatible smartphone to take advantage of the services of such a card.
