Actress Keira Knightley seems to be focusing more on TV. She takes on the lead role in a new Apple series.
Another TV leading role for Keira Knightley (35, "Atonement"): The British actress will star in the planned drama series "The Essex Serpent" for the streaming service Apple TV +. The US industry portal "Deadline" reports.
The series will be based on the book of the same name – in German "Die Schlange von Essex" – by the British author Sarah Perry (41). Accordingly, Clio Barnard (55, "Dark River") should direct the film, and Anna Symon wrote the scripts.
Knightley plays a widow
"The Essex Serpent" is set in London in 1893. Cora Seaborne (Knightley) travels to the coastal town of Aldwinter, where, as a supporter of Darwin's theses, she clashes with Pastor William Ransome. Opposites attract, however – as is the case with Seaborne and Ransome.
For Keira Knightley it is the second lead role in a series in a very short time. In June it became known that she was taking on the lead role in the thriller series "The Other Typist" produced for the US streaming service Hulu.
