The extension of Nike’s contract with the French Football Federation (FFF) and its showcase, the French team, is “excellent news”, said coach Didier Deschamps on Wednesday in an exclusive interview with AFP.
“This extension is excellent news,” assures the technician. “I am first and foremost very happy for the Federation, all the national teams, women’s football and amateur football which will benefit from significant resources in the years to come.”
“I remember that when I arrived in 2012, almost at the start of the partnership with Nike (begun in 2011, Editor’s note), some people questioned the relevance of this commitment,” continues Deschamps. “In the French team, we are all aware, whether players or staff members, of our responsibilities, particularly towards partners who promote their image by appearing alongside us.”
“We are very respectful of our partners and the public,” insists the 2018 world champion. “Beyond our results, the French team arouses very strong enthusiasm and this is also an important source of pride for me “.
The FFF and Nike announced on Tuesday the renewal of their partnership, a very nice blow for the FFF and a new success for the American equipment manufacturer, which recently stole the German selection from its main competitor, Adidas.
This agreement, which will run between 2026 and 2034, should also be a great financial transaction for the FFF. If its amount has not been communicated, it would be higher than that concluded 13 years ago and which brings in between 40 and 50 million annually for “3F”, according to several media.
