The Fall of the White House: Mathieu Kassovitz succeeds Gerard Butler in a series in preparation for Canal+


After “The Fall of the President”, released in 2019, the famous film franchise carried by Gérard Butler will become a series for Canal +. French actor Mathieu Kassovitz will play the main character.

The film series “La Chute” (“Has Fallen” in the original version), worn by Gérard Butler, will become a series. According to exclusive information from Deadlinethe filming of this ambitious project should begin on May 30 in Paris and London.

Produced by StudioCanal, Urban Myth Films, Millennium Media and G-Base, the series, entitled Paris Has Fallen, will be carried by Mathieu Kassovitz. On the writing side, it is Howard Overman, the creator of the acclaimed Misfits, who will take care of the scenarios, while the realization will be entrusted to Oded Ruskin (False Flag). The series will be broadcast in France on Canal+.

After The Fall of the White House, The Fall of London and The Fall of the President, it is therefore in Paris that the teams of this saga of successful films will settle down.

In Paris Has Fallen, Mathieu Kassovitz will slip into the skin of Vincent, an agent in charge of protecting a French minister, who is the target of a terrorist group led by Jacob. Vincent works with MI6 agent Zara in order to ensure the politician’s safety.

But they will very quickly end up finding themselves at the heart of a plot much larger than they imagine. They suspect one of their colleagues from the security department is passing information to Jacob, who always manages to stay one step ahead in his quest to bring down Paris.

Gerard Butler, who played US secret service agent Mike Banning in the films, has not yet been announced in the casting for this television adaptation, but he could make a cameo. Contracts for the other cast members are being finalized.

Mathieu Kassovitz is no stranger to spy shows. The French actor played the main character of the hit series Le Bureau des legendes created by Eric Rochant.

Released in 2013, 2016 and 2019, the “The Fall” franchise has grossed over $500 million worldwide. In 2020, a fourth opus, entitled Night Has Fallen which was to be directed by Ric Roman Waugh, already author of The Fall of the President, had been announced. But since then, the project seems to have been shelved by the studios.
