After Final Fantasy 7, another beloved episode of the license could return with its own remake. An insider who has a small reputation today confirms its existence.
These last few months have been the most prolific for Final Fantasy lovers. FF16 modernized the license last summer with openly action-oriented gameplay, when the Pixel Remaster Collection gave a second lease of life to the first great classics. At the start of the year, it was FF7 Rebirth which delivered a nice slap to the fans. And then ? According to its producer, FF7 Remake 3 should arrive faster than its predecessor, but it seems that Square Enix is keeping another cartridge under its belt: FF9 Remake.
FF9 Remake would indeed be a reality
The rumor has persisted for many months now. It all started in September 2021 with the famous Nvidia leak. The manufacturer had been the victim of a major flaw which made it possible to extract a long list of games that was frankly eccentric on paper. When we saw names such as Resident Evil 4 Remake, Dragon’s Dogma, a new Tomb Raider or even The Talos Principles 2, it was difficult not to be incredulous. Except month after month, the names have been confirmed and the list of officially announced games is now too long to draw up. A certain FF9 Remake was actually mentioned in this famous leak, and it seems that it is indeed real.
This time it is the insider Midori, known for his numerous proven leaks around SEGA and Persona, who adds his little grain of salt. According to him, the game is well under development, just like other redesigns of games in the franchise and as FF9 Remake was not the only game from the license mentioned in the Nvidia leak, we have our idea on one of those concerned. A certain Final Fantasy Tactics Remastered was present alongside him and since then fans have continued to implore the original producer to give them some clues, but he denies any involvement in this project.
A game that gets a lot of attention
On the other hand, the teasing had obviously started a few months ago for FF9 Remake. The collector’s edition of Final Fantasy 14 Dawntrail will indeed offer two bonus characters: Zidane and Garnet. “ You may have noticed a lot of Final Fantasy IX references here, but the reason is a secret », declared the producer of the MMORPG, Naoki Yoshida.
