"The favorite village of the French": Hunspach, everything you need to know about the winner! : Current Woman Le MAG

After the Norman village of Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue in 2019, it is finally a village in Alsace which wins the price ofFavorite village of the French on France 2 among the fourteen competitors. Since its creation, the program presented by Stéphane Bern has already rewarded three Alsatian municipalities (Kaysersberg in 2017 and Eguisheim in 2013, editor's note). For this year 2020, Hunspach, a town located in the Grand Est region a few kilometers from the German border, has won the hearts of the French. This quiet, peaceful and joyful village has only 700 inhabitants. A real flowering parenthesis where white half-timbered houses and geraniums make this place a romantic parenthesis.

Hunspach, attached to its customs and traditions

Strong in its history, Hunspach, houses farms dating from the 18th and 19th centuries. Its heart is even classified as a historic monument! What charm tourists who will surely hurry to admire and taste the local specialties. In addition, the small town attached to its traditions, continues to perpetuate them. Thus, it is usual to see settling on the town hall square, long tables where many dishes are offered but also a ball, a strong symbol of the region.

This victory augurs well for this village since Stéphane Bern's program has become, over the years, a real springboard for the development of tourism in these regions. Like Saint-Vaast-la Hougue in the Manche (winning village in 2019, editor's note) who, following his participation, had seen tourists "converge towards his ribs"to believe the words of Thierry Hélié an oyster farmer in the region, reported by our colleagues from France 3 : "We realized that even people from the English Channel, those who came on vacation on the west coast and did not cross, came. And we saw people crossing the Cotentin to come to the east coast, to discover the favorite village of the French. It had a real impact ", he explained. No doubt that Hunspach, a real little haven of peace, will experience the same fate!
