“The fear of dying”: the young Yuriy returns for the first time to his violent assault: Femme Actuelle Le MAG

On January 15, 2021, a terrible aggression takes place on the "dalle Beaugrenelle", a square in the 15th arrondissement of Paris. Yuriy, a 14-year-old boy, was beaten up by a gang of young people, who left him dying on the ground. He will pass a week in a coma in the hospital, between life and death. Finally out of the woods, Yuriy is out of silence Tuesday March 9, 2021. The young boy gave an interview to the host Cyril Hanouna, who broadcast several extracts in his show Do not touch My TV.

"I felt I had blood on my hands"

We discover a Yuriy again very weakened by his hospitalization, which retains the consequences of his violent assault, even if he assures "get better"physically and mentally. He says that he remembers his attack only in bits and pieces, and that he was very scared:"Without thinking it, I felt the fear of death, because what happened to me was not nothing anyway"he begins."I felt I had blood on my hands, on the head, so I felt it was not a good situation"Yuriy adds.

The young boy also returned to the beginnings of the assault, as rumors surfaced on social networks that he himself was part of a gang and that it was a settling of scores : "I was living my life, it often happened to me to be on this slab, I didn't feel in danger (…) I'm not part of a gang, we are a group of friends, we had fun, we played football, it's not a gang story"Says Yuriy. He ended up thanking the many people who gave him their support, such as the footballers of the France team Kylian Mbappé and Antoine Griezmann who had posted messages on social networks:"It made me happy, I wanted to thank everyone, even the nurses, the nursing assistants, they supported me so much, that's why I'm still here today", adds the college student, who is also preparing to return to the classroom in the coming days.
