The fighters: is the series inspired by a true story?

This Monday, September 19, viewers will discover a new series, The Fighters. Is the fiction inspired by real facts?

This Monday, September 19, 2022, TF1 is broadcasting a new series, entitled The fighters. This fiction which is not inspired by a real story was created by Camille Treiner and Cécile Lorne. This series, made up of eight fifty-two-minute episodes, features four women who will evolve in the context of the First World War. Thus, Audrey Fleurot, Julie de Bona, Camille Lou and Sofia Essaïdi will embody these extraordinary women, with courage and the will to survive in this context of war.

The story takes place in September 1914. While fighting is raging in this small village in eastern France, Marguerite (Audrey Fleurot), a Parisian prostitute, is suspected of being a spy. Sofia Essaïdi plays Caroline, the wife of a wealthy car factory owner, who is now a soldier. Agnès (Julie de Bona) is the mother superior of a convent. As for Suzanne, played by Camille Lou, she is a young feminist nurse. To this cast of famous women, we must add Sandrine Bonnaire or Tom Leeb.

Sofia Essaïdi: “Filming was very hard for me”

For Sofia Essaïdi, this role was a challenge. She then described her character, in the columns of 20 minutes : “She is a middle-class woman who will be led to take over her husband’s factory when he goes to war. She lives in a house that is not hers, that of her in-laws with whom she has a rather conflicted relationship. She’s a modern woman for her time, but who can’t express herself the way she wants to, who can’t be who she is and who lives in a world of restraint.” A character who is the opposite of his personality : “Filming was very hard for me, because I have a lot of energy, I am inner, but also very outward-looking. This work on restraint exhausted me deeply. What interested me in this role, it’s her path of liberation and acceptance of herself. I love composition roles, going against who I am naturally, it’s enjoyable. I like to challenge myself , doing things that I find difficult and trying. That’s why I have to rest a lot after filming. I give myself a lot, but when I finish, I’m pretty drained.”
