Thanks to a phone call with a firefighter, a father was able to save the life of his baby who had just been born in his car, on the edge of a national road in Charente-maritime. The very touching recording was broadcast on the internet.

On Tuesday October 2, the Facebook account of the Charente-Maritime firefighters published a terrifying and upsetting recording. It’s a phone call dated August 6 at three in the morning, between a father in distress and a firefighter.

In this audio recording we can hear parents completely distressed by an extremely rare but very worrying situation … The woman has just given birth in the car while the couple were heading for the maternity ward, on the national 11, near the town of Nuaillé -from Aunis. “J‘got my head in my hands there, he went out, he went out, he is with me! “ Said the young dad to the operator of SDIS 17. The infant has indeed pointed the tip of his nose a little too early … But, this moment of happiness unfortunately did not last very long … The newborn does not cry and does not not screaming, he seems not to be breathing … This greatly worries the firefighter and the parents.

“Operators also save lives!”

While waiting for his colleagues to arrive at the place of delivery, the firefighter keeps his cool and advises his interlocutor. He recommends that she rub the newborn’s back. But the infant is still not crying. The firefighter continues: “Slip your pinky in her mouth a little, try to suck in whatever there is in her nostrils. You have to unblock her nostrils. Take a look if there is something stuck in her mouth“. The father seems to understand what is happening. He applies these tips but we can tell his concern in his voice. The parents’ breathing is very audible on the phone and the minutes seem endless. A few seconds later, the baby’s cries are heard. It’s great, I hear him, he’s crying! It’s awesome…, exclaims the rescuer, also tense. Thanks to this phone call, the newborn baby is saved. The parents, now reassured, and the baby could be evacuated in good health to a hospital.
