The First Descendant: the open beta of the free-to-play Action-RPG postponed

Nexon quietly preparing the launch of The First Descendantan action role-playing game free-to-play which has already been entitled to a closed beta and which was to be accessible by all this month. Unfortunately, the Korean studio announces today that this next phase of testing will be a little delayed.

Originally scheduled for August 22-28, The First Descendant open beta will finally take place from September 19 to 25 on PC, PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, with cross play. The developers explain that they have already taken into account player feedback during previous private tests and many adjustments are already planned.

Performance improvements

  • Improved refresh rate.
  • HDR and NVIDIA DLSS 3 support.
  • Using the latest version of Unreal Engine 5.2.
  • New Performance and Quality modes for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Quality of life improvements

  • Revised grapple control and new parkour moves.
  • New module system (formerly called runes).
  • Improved jumping movements.
  • Improved gun sound effects.
  • Updated user interface and experience.

Updated script and prologue

  • A new additional scenario.
  • A new mysterious map (The Sterile Land).

New Gameplay Content

  • 11 playable Descendants and two ultimate Descendants.
  • 11 new ultimate weapons with unique effects.
  • 8 Void Intercep Boss fights.
  • 2 new battle maps from Void Intercept.
  • New cosmetic system.
  • Improved world missions.

New Open Beta Rewards

  • Rewards are only available to those who participate in the Open Beta.
  • All participants will receive a limited edition emote.
  • Reaching Descendant level 20 grants a back-end customization item at launch.
