If today the HBO series are available in the Amazon Prime Video Warner Pass, the project of a new streaming platform for Europe has not been completely abandoned. As proof, some original content provided for in this respect is still on the way, and this is the case of the first French production HBO Max – labeled more precisely “Max Original” at the present time.
In a statement sent to the press on April 5, 2023, Warner Bros. Discovery announces the start of filming for The mythomaniac of the Bataclanwho is ” the first French original series Max Original for its future streaming platform. »
What is “La Mythomane du Bataclan” about?
This production should rather be a mini-series, since it takes the form of 4 episodes of 52 minutes. It is adapted from the book by Alexandre Kauffmann, published by Goutte d’Or. In this book, the author investigates a true story: that of a woman who lied while pretending to be a survivor of the November 2015 attacks at the Bataclan, going so far as to join an association of victims, Life for Paris. In this book, Kauffmann looks not only at the journey of this woman, “Flo”, but also at mythomania.
The free adaptation will rather take the form of a psychological thriller, taking up the same starting point: On the night of November 13, 2015, Christelle, like the rest of the country, was in shock. The next day, she made contact online with several direct or collateral victims and when the idea of creating a victims’ association took shape, Christelle became its cornerstone. But she lives in lies. »
The series is directed by Just Philippot (La Nuée) and written by Fanny Burdino, Jean-Baptiste Delafon, Samuel Doux and Alexandre Kauffmann. This is Laure Calamy, French actress Caesarized (seen in Ten percent, The Cyclades, Full time…), who will play the main role.
No broadcast date has been specified by Warner. This will be dependent on the launch of the streaming platform, it should not be expected before early 2024.
