The continuation of the range of processors Ryzen 7000 “Zen 4” could thus tumble during the first quarter of next year.
The release of the first Ryzen 7000s may not have gone exactly as AMD had planned. The 7600X, 7700X, 7900X and 7950X were praised for their performance, but the AM5 platform was criticized for its cost.
Three new references
Without necessarily responding directly to this problem, AMD is preparing the release of a second wave of CPUs. These will be the “non-X” versions of the models already available: the Ryzen 5 7600, Ryzen 7 7700 and Ryzen 9 7900.
For the time being, AMD has not communicated about these products and all the information comes from chi11eddog which relays many details on Twitter. Thus, the main difference between these “non-X” models and their already available counterparts concerns the electrical power.
Everything leads to believe that these three new references will have a TDP of 65 Watts when the Ryzen “X” range from 105 (Ryzen 5 7600X and Ryzen 7 7700X) to 170 Watts (Ryzen 9 7900X and Ryzen 9 7950X).
Lowered prices
If the 7600 and 7700 had been mentioned through previous rumors, the Ryzen 9 7900 is new. It should offer 12 Zen 4 cores clocked at 3.8 GHz base, but capable of a 5.4 GHz boost, only 200 MHz less than the 7900X. The processor would be planned for 429 dollars, which is 120 dollars less than the “X”.
For its part, the Ryzen 7 7700 will integrate 8 Zen 4 cores at 3.8/5.3 GHz. In boost, this gives a loss of 100 MHz compared to the “X” version. The price drop would be lower with 70 dollars less than the Ryzen 7 7700X for a price of 329 dollars. Finally, the Ryzen 5 7600 will have 6 cores clocked at 3.8/5.1 GHz, a maximum loss of 200 MHz on the 5600X.
It will of course be the less expensive processor in the 7000 range with an expected price of only 229 dollars, 70 less than the 5600X. The three new references are expected to be released in the first quarter of 2023 and AMD is expected to announce them at CES 2023 in Las Vegas.
