Yesterday the very first console resulting from the Web 3.0 culture was “unveiled” by 4 developers full of promises. Back to the rather eventful announcement of the Polium One, and a project that does not seem to convince many people on paper, including on its official Discord server.
Between the various crises that have hit the small crypto world in recent weeks and the free fall in the sale of NFT since January compared to last year, one wonders if the timing was right for the announcement of the Polium One, first console on the market to be based very largely on blockchain technology, a technology whose purely playful virtue remains to be determined
Already a scam?
The four developers of the machine have already promised mountains and wonders, with a machine capable of sending 8K resolution at 120fps with ray-tracing… Do we really need to go further? Admittedly, the machine is scheduled for 2024, but these promises simply do not hold water compared to current technological advances. Add to this the very concept of the machine, which features tactile recognition for its controller and will enable you to buy, resell and exchange crypto-currencies very simply : welcome to web 3.0. Community reaction to this announcement has obviously been lukewarm, with an official Discord server already full of skeptics. as VGC reports.
There’s something like the logo
Come on, let’s help you a little: it’s a Nintendo console, 128-bit generation, released a little over 20 years ago. There’s a bit of a family resemblance with the logo of the “first NFT game console” don’t you think? A barely veiled copy-paste and explained as follows by its creators: “It sounds familiar but the GameCube has a G and the cube represents their name. Our cube represents the blockchain and the P stands for Polium.” The developers have nevertheless announced that the logo will be changed, in order to avoid confusion in the future.
