Although a certain number of smartphones already offer more or less limited satellite connectivity, which makes it possible to contact the emergency services by satellite in the event of an emergency, the integration of this technology is unprecedented in smartwatches. It must be said that the absence of a loudspeaker and/or microphone makes it unusable for any voice communication. However, connected watches are already saving lives; stories demonstrating the effectiveness of the Apple Watch’s health and alert functions, for example, continue to grow.

The Huawei Watch Ultimate is the 1st watch to be able to receive and send SMS via satellite

Huawei is preparing to market the Huawei Watch Ultimate, a connected watch integrating technology for sending and receiving SMS via satellite. In addition to this satellite connectivity, few details have yet filtered concerning it. We just know that the Huawei Watch Ultimate could be the new iteration of the Huawei Watch 3. A Watch 4 renamed then?

The event of presentation of the Huawei Watch Ultimate will be held on March 23, 2023. Despite the obvious usefulness of this satellite technology, on this date, eyes will be mainly on the company’s smartphones: the P60 and P60 Pro, but also the Mate X3, a foldable smartphone. The Chinese giant does not despair of convincing international customers to adopt its new devices, despite all the barriers that Washington and regulators are putting in place.
