1. Morocco: Agadir – ten kilometers of dream beaches

At the beach in four hours: The country’s most important bathing destination is located in the southwest of Morocco – the white city of Agadir with its ten-kilometer-long, golden-yellow and crescent-shaped sandy beach. Its major advantage is that it is located in a bay on the Atlantic Ocean, brushed by the warm Gulf Stream.

This makes Agadir the warmest place in Morocco – with 320 days of sunshine a year. For the month of March this means: ideal beach weather with up to 25 degrees and eight hours of sunshine. Only the water temperatures of the Atlantic are still fresh at 18 degrees. In addition to the cozy cafés, restaurants and bars on the waterfront, there are a number of interesting places to discover: from the Bahia Palace and a botanical garden to the Saadian Tombs and the Koutoubia Mosque.

2. Canary Islands: Black beaches in Tenerife

The largest and most contrasting of the seven Canary Islands is reached in just under five hours of flight: Tenerife. In the spring months it is not yet hot with an air temperature of 22 degrees and a water temperature of 19 degrees, but it is always a first taste of summer. Every vacationer will find their favorite beach here: from rugged cliffs and gorges in the west to a Caribbean beach in the north-east to the coastal deserts with red volcanoes in the south-east and pitch-black lava beaches in the north-west.

Windsurfers and kitesurfers are drawn to El Medano on the southeast coast, while tourists who are particularly sensitive to the cold love the Playas de Granadilla. This beach is made up of large black lava rocks that, heated up by the sun, present themselves perfectly as pre-warmed berths. The lava towers reaching into the sea also act as a natural wind blocker and form small pools protected from the surf. The Playa Jardin also promises warmth from below and above – thanks to its grey-black lava sand. If you dream of a classic beach beauty, head to Playa de las Teresitas, where tons of Saharan sand have been dumped. The result: a long, golden sandy beach with palm trees, calm sea (the bay is framed by breakwaters), right on the mountains.

3. Egypt: Into the Red Sea!

In five hours in the warmth: Egypt is a popular bathing destination, but with desert, pyramids and Nile cruises it has much more to offer. Subtropical desert climate gives the North African country a wonderfully warm climate in autumn and spring. The Red Sea coast is peppered with bathing resorts: from El Queseir, Makadi Bay, Sharm el Sheikh, Lahami Bay or Marsa Alam to the well-known beach classic Hurghada.

They all score in March with average daily values of around 25 degrees, nine hours of sunshine and water temperatures of 22 degrees. The underwater world is also a reason to cheer. Even snorkelers can see many colorful fish on the coral reefs off the coast. For windsurfers and kitesurfers, the best wind conditions begin in March. That means: On an average of 20 days in the past few years, the wind has blown with at least four Beaufort.

4. United Arab Emirates: Insider tips Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah

Plenty of sun in a six-hour flight, endless sandy beaches and many unusual attractions: fantastic weather conditions prevail in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in March. 27 degrees, nine hours of sun and water temperatures around 23 degrees. The most beautiful public beaches include the white Saadiyat Beach in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE, as well as the palm-fringed The Beach JBR in Dubai, Jumeirah Beach or the party beach Barasati. The latter is the only public beach where alcohol is sold.

The two emirates Ras Al Khaimah and Sharjah are considered insider tips for beach vacationers – also because of their significantly lower prices. Sharjah, which translates as “lit by the sun”, has two coastlines. Miles of beach paradises of powdered sugar sand, palm trees and turquoise seas lie between the Persian Gold to the west and the Gulf of Oman to the east. Man has helped with the most beautiful bays right in the city: Khor Al Mamzar, Khor Al Khan and Khor Khalid are artificially created sea bays. Those who want to explore the third largest of the seven emirates will find palaces, a historic old town with narrow streets, more than 20 museums, camel races and an amusement park for tourists.

5. Cape Verde Islands: Zero rainy days and endless sandy beaches

Six flight hours until eternal summer: That’s what the 15 Cape Verde islands, nine of which are inhabited, are also called. They are located in the middle of the Atlantic, south of the Canary Islands and around 500 kilometers off the west coast of Africa at Senegal. The sun shines there 350 days a year, from January to June not a single drop of rain falls. In March air temperatures around 24 degrees and seven hours of sun lure, the Atlantic with 23 degrees.

The island of Boa Vista is considered the bathing island – with light sand, shifting dunes, lonely beaches with turquoise water. Humpback whales can also be spotted on spring boat tours along its west and south-west coasts. If you don’t just want to relax on the beach, but also want to move around in an exotic landscape, head for the island of Santo Antao. The rugged hiking island is blessed with spectacular scenery: Coffee, bananas and mangoes grow in the valleys, the mountains rise to 1600 meters. The highlight is a hike along the steep coast.
