D – 11 before the doors open at the Agricultural Show in Paris. The countdown is accelerating and the National Federation of Farmers’ Unions (FNSEA) has decided to put pressure on the government. An ultimatum heard by the Prime Minister, Gabriel Attal, who agreed to once again receive Arnaud Rousseau and Arnaud Gaillot, respectively presidents of the FNSEA and the Young Farmers (JA), Tuesday February 13.
1er February, the two agricultural unions announced the suspension of the protest movement of their troops after a meeting in Matignon, where the government undertook to present a new set of measures on the occasion of the Agricultural Show, which took place will be held from February 24 to March 3. Halfway through, the FNSEA expressed its impatience. “ It seemed to us that the rhythm was not the right one”declared Mr. Rousseau. “ After the weekend warning shot, we were able to review all the measures (…) with the Prime Minister », rejoiced Mr. Gaillot.
The range of subjects discussed was wide, including the Ecophyto plan, supposed to reduce the use of pesticides, but opposed by the FNSEA – which repeats its mantra “No ban without solution” –, zoning which must establish areas for non-treatment with pesticides, the wolf, the livestock support plan and the non-overtransposition of standards in France. Also on the agenda were the law on agricultural pensions, that concerning neighborhood disturbances, the implementation of the emergency measures presented on January 26 by Mr. Attal and the modification of the EGalim law.
Added to this copious menu was the bill on the renewal of generations in agriculture, which had been postponed and which must now be ready by June. “There will surely be a need for another envelope for operating transmissions. We cannot quantify it today. We will discuss with Bercy”specifies Mr. Gaillot.

The Ministry of the Economy had estimated the emergency measures at 400 million euros. The FNSEA also wants food sovereignty to be included in the law, expressed in “ produce to feed », according to the terms used by Mr. Rousseau, and in a “ competitiveness aspect of Ferme France “.
As he traditionally does before the Agricultural Show, the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, was to receive the agricultural unions – the Peasant Confederation and the Rural Coordination, Wednesday February 14, and the FNSEA and the JA, the week of February 19. “ We will question Emmanuel Macron on the European aspect, to find out the evolution of the Green Deal after his meeting with Ursula von der Leyen [la présidente de la Commission européenne] and discuss the directive on industrial emissions »explains Mr. Rousseau.
