Huawei wants to stay ahead of competitor Samsung in the foldable smartphone market when it comes to device design, and it has proven this again with its recent Mate X3.
A few days ago, Huawei officially presented the Mate X3, its new high-end folding smartphone. On the program, a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, but which is not not compatible with 5G networks due to US sanctions against the Chinese manufacturer. The smartphone must also skip Google services and Gorilla Glassbut he has many other tricks up his sleeve to overshadow his rivals.
Indeed, the Mate X3 is much lighter than its competitors. It weighs only 239 g (241 g for the Feathered Sand model), i.e. 24 g less than the Galaxy Z Fold 4. We also know that the next Galaxy Z Fold 5 will not do better, since it will be only slightly lighter than its predecessor, according to the latest leaks. Even better, the Mate X3 is just 5.3mm thick. This is 0.1 mm less than the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2, which had already impressed us when we took it in hand.
The Huawei Mate X3 uses a bigger battery than Samsung
Despite its record thickness, Huawei has managed to place a large battery in its Mate X3. The smartphone benefits from a 4800 mAh battery, compatible with 66W fast charging and 50W wireless.
The Huawei Mate X3 is even equipped a 5X periscope of 12 MP at the level of its photo part, a very rare item for a foldable smartphone. It is supported by a 50 MP main camera and a 13 MP ultra wide-angle camera.
The smartphone can also count on two screens with a frequency of 120 Hz. Cover screen measures 6.4 inches and offers a definition of 2504 x 1080 pixels and a 20.9:9 format. Inside you haveanother 7.85 inch screen with a definition of 2496 x 2224 pixels and an almost square aspect ratio of 8:7.1. Huawei is expected to introduce its Mate X3 smartphone on May 9, 2023 in Europe alongside the high-end P60 Pro.
