The free hygiene protection will be tested in some high schools!

Menstrual insecurity affects one in three women according to Ifop, and in particular high school girls and students.

This is a topic that has been debated for several years. Should we make hygienic protections free? On May 28, on the occasion of World Menstrual Hygiene Day, Marlène Schiappa, Brune Poirson, Christelle Dubos and Agnès Pannier-Runacher committed to making hygienic protection free for the most precarious women, in a column published on HuffPost.

Among these women, high school and college students, particularly affected by the situation. In fact, according to Le Parisien, in Île-de-France alone, 6 to 12% of them have already missed lessons, for lack of adequate hygienic protection.

Thus, the government has decided to experiment, as of September 2020, with the provision of free hygienic protection in certain high schools in France, reports Grazia. The ideal would be to generalize this in all high schools in the country. In the meantime, this decision will soon be extended to students, female prisoners and women without or in a precarious situation. According to ifop, one in three women is affected by menstrual insecurity.
