Bad news for Freebox subscribers who were fans of this good old “fax”.
Indeed, the group will end this service as of November 30.
The Fax at Free, it’s over!
There was a time in the past when companies (and some individuals) used fax, this technology which, according to the official definition, converts the image of documents into electrical impulses to transmit them to a recipient through a line telephone. The latter then receives a document that is perfectly identical to the one “faxed” a few seconds earlier by the sender. Today, this service is necessarily obsolete (and for a few years already, in reality), but was still available on the side of Free.
Indeed, in the Freebox subscriber space, it was still possible a few days ago to activate the “Fax service” by generating a dedicated number. However, the French group has just indicated that the latter is no longer in the game, and all those who had not, until now, activated the said service no longer have the possibility of doing so. Those who, on the other hand, had generated a fax number via their Freebox will be able to continue using the service for a few more months, until November 30, to be precise.
On this date, Free will definitively end its Fax service, which will then no longer be available, whether you have previously activated the service or not. If you are a Free subscriber, you are likely to receive an e-mail alerting you to the end of “Fax service”, which should not really upset your daily life.
