Geoffroy Didier was the guest of Europe Matin week-end this Saturday. At the microphone of Jean-Pierre Elkabbach, the director of communication of Valérie Pécresse explained that the campaign of the candidate LR had so far not taken off because “the French have not yet discovered”, who she really was .

INTERVIEW

Why is Valérie Pécresse’s campaign slipping? Down in the polls, candidate LR seems to be having more and more difficulty making her voice heard, two months before the first round. Nothing alarming according to Geoffroy Didier, its communications director, for whom the French “have not yet discovered Valérie Pécresse”. Guest of Europe Matin weekend this Saturday, MEP LR explained at the microphone of Jean-Pierre Elkabbach that the campaign of the right-wing candidate was going to take a new turn with his meeting at the Zénith de Paris.

Valérie Pécresse, “a woman of words and a woman of action”

“It’s the start of a new stage,” he said on Saturday in Europe Matin week-end. Geoffroy Didier hopes that this meeting will allow Valérie Pécresse to present herself to the French as she is. “I know who she is, I can tell you that she is a woman of words and that she is a woman of action. I can tell you one thing: when she says, she does. As soon as we entrust her with a mission or a mandate, she holds on, she does, she resists”, hammers her director of communication.

A third, neither “old-fashioned nor post-modern”

According to him, candidate LR will present her social project, a “roots and wings” project for France tomorrow at the Zenith in Paris. “Roots because you have to assume your history and wings because you also have to project yourself into the future”, explains Geoffroy Didier, for whom Valérie Pécresse embodies a third way which is “neither backward nor post- modern”.

MEP LR also hopes that Nicolas Sarkozy, with whom Valérie Pécresse spoke yesterday face to face, will officially support the candidate from the right. “I want Nicolas Sarkozy to be loyal to his political family. We all have a huge collective responsibility: to win the right,” he insisted at the microphone of Jean-Pierre Elkabbach.

Always given third in the polls in the first round, behind Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen, Valérie Pécresse has a major challenge ahead of her: to reveal herself to the French to relaunch a dynamic around her project.
