Good news for the French who love the end of year celebrations. The Christmas holidays promise to be particularly pleasant… in 2025.
Certain times of the year are particularly conducive to stress. This is the case with the start of the school year for parents of children in school (and it will be even more so in 2024 for parents in a specific area), and also for the end-of-year celebrations. Between the inevitable expenses related to gifts, the trips to be planned to find loved ones, and the extended family meals that often end in an argument, Christmas often generates tension. And sometimes the calendar of the year adds a little extra pressure. This will be the case for example in 2023: the next end-of-year celebrations will be complicated, with school holidays starting on Saturday December 23 for the 3 zones.
Fortunately, the calendar changes every year. Thus, by taking a little height and observing that of the next few years to come, we would almost like to take a leap in time. In 2025, the timing of the Christmas holidays is particularly optimal. Indeed, December 25 and January 1 fall on a Thursday. The French will therefore only have to land on Friday to enjoy a very long weekend of festivities of at least 4 days. Another non-negligible advantage of this calendar, the school holidays will begin on Saturday 20 December, this will make it possible to spread out departures over several days and avoid crowded trains and huge traffic jams. The same goes for returns, which may be spread out from Friday January 2 to Sunday January 4, 2026. Of course, as every time there is a bridge that could be beneficial to all areas, the ideal is to anticipate this period well if you wish to ask in particular on Wednesday 24, Friday 26, Wednesday 31 December or Friday 2 January.

The Christmas holidays to anticipate
Anticipation will be essential for the next Christmas holidays as we have already explained, if you want to save yourself from cold sweats especially on Saturday December 23rd and Monday January 1st.
For next year and the end-of-year holidays of 2024, the calendar is a little less advantageous than that of 2025. The December 25 and January 1 holidays fall on Wednesdays. You will therefore have 2 days to ask at least to enjoy after Christmas or New Year’s Eve a long weekend. Holiday departures will also be a little tighter, from Saturday to Tuesday.
