Hyundai offers a new video preview of its future 100% electric Kona SUV.

The new zero-emission small urban SUV is expected to hit the roads sometime in the summer.

A futuristic look for the next generation of Kona

Launched in 2017, the Hyundai Kona is a small urban crossover, replacing the ix20 model. Initially available in a thermal version, the model has also been declined in a zero-emission version. In 2024, Hyundai will launch the new generation of Kona, which promises to be distinguished by a new look, but also by a more spacious and modular interior. The other particularity of this new generation is to have been designed as an electric vehicle.

At the beginning of the year, Hyundai indicated that its new generation Kona had first been developed in its 100% electric version, which then constituted ” a contrarian approach to car design reflecting Hyundai’s accelerated electrification strategy “. This explains the “futuristic” side of this new model, both for the electric grind and the thermal versions.

Design elements exclusive to the 100% electric model

In the 100% electric version, Hyundai’s Kona SUV is however distinguished by its pixelated lights, which makes it the first Hyundai model to adopt this iconic design element. The “pixel” side is also found at the level of the front shield, which is reworked compared to the thermal models.

This electric version will also have specific 19-inch spoke wheels, again inspired by the pixel theme. These design cues are exclusive to the automaker’s new electric cars, as first featured on the Ioniq 5 two years ago.

On board, there will be a 12.3-inch dual-screen interface that promises to combine ergonomics and ease of use. Everything will be able to benefit from optimizations and other new features thanks to OTA software updates, not to mention the possibility of locking, unlocking and even starting the vehicle using the Digital Key 2 Touch key. The launch is scheduled in a few months, at a price that remains to be defined.
