Vicarious Visions, the studio for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2, has been completely absorbed by Blizzard. Is the license doomed or can a new episode see the light of day?
Even before its takeover by Microsoft, Activision Blizzard had reorganized its studios to implement a simple plan: push Call of Duty even further. The developers had no choice, not even the creators of Crash Bandicoot 4. Vicarious Visions (Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2), they managed to slip away… but were absorbed by Blizzard with the consequence of having to let go of the skate franchise. Now that the merger is fully operational, should we be worried about seeing the cult license disappear after an acclaimed remake?

Vicarious Visions and Blizzard Entertainment have officially merged, over a year after the announcement. Teams aren’t moving, but now they’ll only produce Blizzard content like Diablo 2 Resurected.

As a result, Vicarious Visions will no longer be able to return to Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, which leaves one wondering about the franchise’s future. Will Activision put it back in the closet? And then there was this possible dumpling from Jesse Margera, drummer of CKY. In a podcast, he said he knew he and his band were going to be in the new Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater game.
