During the Galaxy Unpacked, we were able to take control of the Galaxy Book3 live from our Twitch set, but the Ultra model was unfortunately missing. The most high-end version from Samsung, it offers a muscular configuration in an ultra-thin and light chassis, weighing barely 1.8 kg. For a 16-inch device, it’s quite impressive and obviously feels when you take it in hand.
As a reminder, two versions are offered: one with Intel Core i9 processor and Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070; the other with an Intel Core i7 and an RTX 4050. In both cases, you can count on 1 TB of SSD storage, 32 GB of DDR5 RAM and a 2880 x 1800 pixel Amoled screen refreshed at 120 Hz.
We now know a little more about on-board graphics cards. They have respective TGPs of 55 W for the GeForce RTX 4050 and 4070. These thermal envelopes, which are very limited due to the thinness of the chassis, will speed up processing in certain compatible applications (photo, video and 3D software in particular) and will even allow play. This being the case, it is clearly not necessary to expect the performance of the models gaming which benefit from much higher TGPs (175 W on the Razer Blade that we have just tested, for example). The arrival of DLSS 3 on certain titles could however offer a comfortable gaming experience, even if it means lowering the native definition a little.
The finishes of the PC are impeccable and on the ports side the connectivity is rather complete with two USB-C Thunderbolt 4, a USB-A 3.2, an HDMI, a microSD card reader (admittedly obsolete) and a mini-jack socket.
