The Galaxy Z Flip 5 is much more durable than the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra, the proof in video

If you finally want to take the plunge and switch to a foldable smartphone, you should know that not all of them are the same, whether in terms of their technical data sheet or their resistance. One of them is doing particularly better than the others.

A few days ago, Samsung introduced its new series of foldable smartphones, which notably includes the Galaxy Z Flip 5, its next-generation clamshell device. This brings not only significant changes to the exterior design, with a giant 3.4-inch external screen, but Samsung has also improved the central hinge.

Indeed, it now adopts a “teardrop” design, which finally allows the smartphone to close “flat”, with no space visible between the two parts of the screen. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 has therefore finally aligned itself with most of its competitors in this area, but still maintains a big lead in terms of durability.

The Motorola Razr 40 Ultra supports fewer bends than the Galaxy Z Flip 5

As with previous Samsung smartphones, the Mrkeybrd channel wanted to verify the claims of foldable smartphone manufacturers regarding their resistance to bends. During a live video lasting several tens of hours, several people take turns to continuously fold and unfold the smartphones.

This year, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 faces the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra, and the least we can say is that one is much more resistant than the other. Indeed, Samsung announces that its Galaxy Z Flip 5 is able to withstand 200,000 bendswhich should in theory make it usable for many years.

In the video, Mrkeybrd had the unpleasant surprise to see that the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra’s hinge gave way after just 43,800 bends. The latter no longer allows the smartphone to be closed flat, but the screen has not suffered any damage. For its part, at the time of writing these lines, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is currently at its 100,000e bend and do not flinch. It is also likely to last a very long time, since the Galaxy Z Flip 3 had shown signs of fatigue after no less than 353,000 successive folds. You can follow his performance live on the live video below.
