the game almost unplayable on PS5, the studio reacts

The PS5 version of Baldur’s Gate 3 is in serious trouble due to regular crashes. Larian Studios reacts to the anger of players who can no longer access their game.

For a few weeks, PS5 players could only envy the “PCists” who were lucky enough to be able to play Baldur’s Gate 3 before them. A great frustration especially given the enormous critical success of the RPG, which quite simply makes it one of the best rated games of all time. Since the beginning of September, owners of the console can finally understand why the title is so appreciated by themselves. Unfortunately, a big problem currently affects this version of Baldur’s Gate 3.

A big problem for Baldur’s Gate 3 on PS5

Since its release on PC and PS5, Larian Studios has demonstrated exemplary follow-up of Baldur’s Gate 3, always being very responsive when a problem is reported by the community. Obviously, this does not prevent problems from occurring anyway and PS5 players are currently paying the price. Several are reporting that Baldur’s Gate 3 crashes when they simply try to load their save from the title screen. Running another backup would not resolve the issue. Some people still manage to access their game by restarting the game several times after each crash, but this is clearly not ideal.

Fortunately, Larian is keeping an eye on things and giving players a solution to get around the problem, directly linked to the PSN issues that have been plaguing since last night, before it was corrected. Simply disconnect your PS5 from the Internet before launching the game, explains the studio on X. A maneuver that works very well, as reported by several people on social networks and forums. Once your game is loaded, you can reconnect your console to the Internet if you want to play multiplayer. We imagine that the Belgian developers are carefully studying the problem although it does not seem to be within their remit.

In any case, Larian has a lot of work to do at the moment. In addition to having to resolve this type of problem, the studio is still working to bring new features to its baby such as a photo mode or cross-play, without knowing exactly when all this will arrive. For their part, Xbox players are primarily waiting for an official release date for the RPG on their machine, but it shouldn’t take long, because Baldur’s Gate 3 is scheduled between September and November.
