The Game Pass will soon eliminate Xbox Live Gold, but the offer will be much better

Xbox Live Gold will disappear next September. The offer will be replaced by the Xbox Game Pass Core, which will offer more things for the same price. It is a historic market subscription that is bowing out.

Xbox Live Gold has been around since the very first Xbox console was released in 2002. It will soon disappear, replaced by an Xbox Game Pass offer more in keeping with the times. Microsoft has confirmed this.

AT From September 14, Xbox Live Gold will no longer exist. Instead, users will be able to subscribe – for the same price – to Xbox Game Pass Core. It will provide the same benefits, with a little extra. Of course, the offer will be the same whether you have an Xbox One or a Series X/S. It won’t change anything if you’re already a Gold or Ultimate subscriber.

Xbox Live Gold is going away in September

Xbox Live Gold is a subscription that allows you to play online on your console for seven euros per month. In addition to that, it gives the possibility to the user to enjoy free games every month and interesting promotions. Xbox Game Pass Core will offer the exact same thing, plus a selection of 25 so-called “essential” games such as Gears 5, DOOM Eternal or Dishonored 2. Note that all games recovered using Gold over the years will remain on your account. Here are the titles included in the offer:

  • Among Us
  • Descend
  • Dishonored 2
  • Doom Eternal
  • Fable Anniversary
  • Fallout 4
  • Fallout 76
  • Forza Horizon 4
  • Gears 5
  • Grounded
  • Halo 5: Guardians
  • Halo Wars 2
  • Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice
  • Human Fall Flat
  • Inside
  • Ori & The Will of the Wisps
  • Psychonauts 2
  • State of Decay 2
  • The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited

A necessary evolution, Gold being originally a dedicated subscription only to play online.

In parallel, the Redmond firm has announced the discontinuation of Game Pass Family. Launched in 2022 in a few test countries, it does not seem to have convinced the crowds. Nothing says he won’t come back one day in a new form.
