The Gentlemen: Guy Ritchie produces an action comedy series

Guy Ritchie is allowed to let off steam as a director, screenwriter and producer: his movie "The Gentlemen" is now being made as a series.

The action film comedy "The Gentlemen" celebrated its cinema premiere in February 2020, and now series fans should also get their money's worth. As director Guy Ritchie (52) confirms on Instagram, the gangster film will be implemented as a series – as it was his plan from the beginning. "I originally wrote The Gentlemen as a television series, but was persuaded to do it as a film instead. I'm very happy that it is now going to be a premium series," writes Ritchie.

Will Matthew McConaughey be back?

As the US industry website "Deadline" reports, the 52-year-old will be responsible for the new series as director, screenwriter and producer. The producers Ivan Atkinson and Marn Davies, who had already worked on the film with Ritchie, are also back on board. Nothing is known about the cast of the series yet.

In the film, Hollywood star Matthew McConaughey (50) took on the leading role of the American emigrant Mickey Pearson, who has built a highly profitable marijuana empire in the London underground. When he wants to get rid of this, however, in order to spend more time with his wife Rosalind (Michelle Dockery, 38), a lot of interested parties prick up their ears. A story of conspiracies, intrigues, bribery and extortion begins. Who should Pearson sell his plantations to?
