In an internal memo, Apple acknowledges that a very annoying bug is currently affecting its Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2. It mentions a “ghost touch” problem, which acts as if the user had interacted with the screen of his connected watch without this being the case.
If we talk a lot about the many news stories where the Apple Watch has saved lives, we must not forget that it is an electronic device like any other. In doing so, it is just as prone to bugs as any other, bugs sometimes so severe that they make the connected watch completely impossible to use. Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2 owners are unfortunately experiencing this right now.
In an internal memo, the Cupertino company addresses a serious problem currently affecting its two connected watches. It thus evokes a concern for “ghost keys”. In other words, the Apple Watch screen acts as if the user had touched the screen, even without any interaction on their part. The manufacturer specifies that this can cause “sudden jumps” in applications, or even trigger a call unintentionally.

But this bug can prove even more disabling. Some users may find themselves unable to unlock their connected watch because it enters the wrong password itself. Not very practical for updating your firmware — and therefore, correcting the bug once and for all. However, the fix does not seem to have been deployed yet, with Apple specifying that it should arrive with the next system update.

Apple therefore calls on its users to regularly check the availability of a new update. The firm also specifies that it is useless to take your watch to a repairer, the latter having received instructions not to act on the bug. In the meantime, a forced restart may fix the problem temporarily. To do this, simply hold down the side button and the Digital Crown for at least ten seconds until the Apple logo appears.
