the good news is confirmed for your energy bill

The benchmark price of gas, this index which allows consumers to compare suppliers’ offers, is still down sharply for the month of April, the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) announced on Monday. Good news for consumers at a time when taxes are soaring.

Good news for the 11 million individual gas subscribers. The Energy Regulatory Commission revealed on Monday the benchmark gas price for the month of April. This indicator, which has replaced the regulated tariff (TRV) since July 1, 2023, is once again decreasing, as was already the case in March, February and January.

According to the recommendations of the CRE, the rate considered reasonable for the price of the kilowatt hour (kWh) is 0.08792 euros including tax for household heating And 0.10914 euros including tax per kWh for a hot water and cooking fireplace. The average benchmark price for an average heating type consumer fell by 4.5% between March and April. A new reduction that energy suppliers are likely to apply to their customers, although the CRE benchmark price remains an indicator with no binding value.

Indeed, suppliers freely construct their offers based on their supply conditions, their commercial choices, but also the contractual conditions they offer, specifies the CRE: Thus, for example, the price of an offer price fixed over one year is likely to differ significantly from the CRE reference price which reflects monthly and quarterly variations in the price of gas. Consumers must take into account, when comparing the offers proposed by suppliers, the contractual conditions associated with them.

The monthly gas sales benchmark price reflects an average estimate of the costs borne by suppliers for the supply of natural gas and includes supply costs (energy cost on the wholesale market) and non-supply costs. (commercial, transport or storage costs, supplier remuneration, etc.).

Even though consumers who use gas faced a tax increase on January 1, they are benefiting from the drop in the wholesale price of gas.
