Digital pitted the Google Pixel 6 against the Oppo Find X5, to determine which of the two non-“Pro” devices is the better choice. And it was after a tight fight that the Mountain View company’s smartphone triumphed. However, the Oppo Find X5 claims many qualities. Which one to choose ?
It is not always necessary to afford the “Pro” version of manufacturers’ flagship smartphones to benefit from a high-performance terminal. In any case, this is what the Google Pixel 6 and Oppo Find X5 prove to us, derived from the Pixel 6 Pro and Find X5 Pro, and both winners of 5 stars. Despite their different style and strengths, it was Google’s smartphone that won in points.
With these two terminals, Google and Oppo give us two very distinct visions. Although a little more compact, with 160.3 x 72.6 x 8.7 mm against 158.6 x 74.8 x 8.9 mm, the Find X5 has a slightly larger screen than its competitor. But it is thanks to its IP68 certification, making it resistant to immersion in water, that the Pixel 6 takes the lead.
On the performance side, Google made a big debut with its Tensor chip. Passed through our labs, the Pixel 6 processor has proven to be very comfortable, especially in video games, where it easily outpaces its rival of the day and wins the performance duel hands down, despite a very slight delay in multitasking level.
Kingdom of Google, it is truly in the field of photography that the Google Pixel 6 imposes itself by KO. Thanks to honed software processing, it delivers stunning shots of detail and sharpness. Far from being a bad competitor, the Find X5 must however bow to Californian know-how, despite the presence of a telephoto lens and a more convincing ultra-wide-angle mode.
A tough fight from which the Pixel 6 emerges victorious, not without having shed a few drops of sweat in the battle. The Oppo Find X5 does not demerit, however, thanks to its brighter 120 Hz screen and more precise calibration. As autonomous as its rival, the Oppo Find X5 also benefits from a much faster charge. More powerful and more gifted in photography, the Pixel 6 also benefits from an IP68 certification which weighs in the balance.
