The future folding smartphone from Google should also be the most imposing once in hand, but there is a good reason for that.
The arrival of Google in the sector of folding smartphones is imminent. For several months, rumors have been circulating about this first flexible screen smartphone which could see the light of day this year.
Google would be the next to invest in the folding smartphone market
Very recently, we presented a video of a model, made according to several supposed technical diagrams which would have escaped the manufacturer and its partners.
The device, in a format similar to that adopted by Samsung for its Galaxy Z Fold 4, seemed quite imposing at first glance, with a main screen of 7.57 inches, and a second screen on top of the smartphone, of 5.78 thumbs when folded in order to consult its notifications and write a few messages quickly, without having to open the device.
Today it is the turn of the weight of the Google Pixel Fold to be at the center of the news. According to the latest information, Google’s smartphone is simply the heaviest folding smartphone on the market, weighing more than the 263 grams of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 in hand. The reason for this? Battery.
A huge battery for an autonomy finally up to the task
Google has often been singled out for the rather low autonomy of its smartphones and would like to put an end to this bad reputation with the Google Pixel Fold. The device would thus carry a 5,000 mAh battery, which would probably give it sufficient autonomy for a full day of use. This is better than the 4,400 mAh of the Samsung model and the 4,300 mAh of the OPPO Find N2 Flip, which we tested recently.
The device would also ship, unsurprisingly, a Google Tensor processor, the latest generation of mobile processors designed by the search engine, and which could allow lower consumption of the smartphone to gain a few additional hours of use.
It now remains to wait for the official presentation of the Google Pixel Fold, which could take place next May, during Google I/O 2023. The price of the device could be around 1,800 dollars.
