(Boursier.com) — On the occasion of the “5G x industry 4.0” event, organized by the General Directorate for Enterprise (DGE), Jean-Noël Barrot, Minister Delegate for the Digital Transition and Telecommunications, in connection with Roland Lescure, Minister Delegate for Industry, announced the strengthening of government actions supporting the development of industrial 5G with the launch of a public consultation for the revision of the terms of access to the 2.6 GHz frequency band and the implementation of a system aimed at structuring experimental platforms and fablab campuses dedicated to industrial 5G throughout the national territory.

Six months after the submission of the conclusions of the industrial 5G mission, the momentum is set in motion

Six months after the restitution of the conclusions of the Industrial 5G Mission and two years after the launch of a first call for projects to support the development of 5G uses in France, the “5G x Industry 4.0” event organized by the General Directorate of Enterprises (DGE) with the Sector Strategic Committees (CSF) “Digital Infrastructures” and “Industry Solutions of the Future” made it possible to take stock of the results of the experiments in the use of 5G for industry carried out in France .

The government has launched several strong measures since March 2022 implemented by the DGE:
– a France 2030 Call for Expression of Interest (AMI) to support “Campus Fablab 5G industrial” projects;
-Opening with ARCEP of an experimentation counter in the 3.8-4GHz band, launch of the revision of the terms of use of the 2.6GHz band;
-a call for projects (AAP) France 2030 joint with Germany on 5G private networks for industry.

The government is committed to accelerating its actions in favor of the development of industrial 5G throughout the national territory

In order to promote industrial access to the uses of 5G and to facilitate the launch of new projects, the government is undertaking a double strengthening of these initiatives.

-Facilitation of industrial access to frequencies for their industrial 5G projects: launch of a public consultation on the terms of access to the 2.6GHz frequency band.

A public consultation lasting one month on the draft revision of the decree establishing the fees for the 2.6 GHz TDD band has been announced. In line with the conclusions of the Industrial 5G Mission report, this project responds to the government’s desire to facilitate industrial access to frequencies for private 5G networks by substantially lowering fees for small and medium-sized industrial sites. medium sizes.

This consultation is part of a set of measures announced with ARCEP on March 15, 2022 to facilitate industrial access to 5G frequencies, on the 2.6 GHz or 3.8-4.0 GHz band. Minister Jean-Noël Barrot underlined the concrete involvement of ARCEP in the implementation of these measures alongside the Government, which are already producing the first concrete results.

-Structuring a network of open experimentation platforms in conjunction with the CSF digital infrastructures.

21 platforms for experimenting with 5G uses have already been supported as part of the 5G acceleration strategy throughout the national territory. In order to capitalize on these projects, the Government with the CSF “Digital Infrastructures” are launching a mechanism to facilitate these platforms around thematic clubs. These clubs will have the mission of promoting the sharing of experience and the publication of the most promising results around shared roadmaps.
In addition, a catalog listing these platforms and the conditions of access to their infrastructures so that manufacturers or solution providers can carry out tests there will be published soon…

Jean-Noël Barrot, Minister Delegate in charge of the Digital Transition and Telecommunications, declared: “Industrial 5G is one of the essential bricks of our future competitiveness as well as our digital sovereignty. The work that we have carried out in recent months with the players of the ecosystem, both public and private, have made it possible to remove a large number of obstacles. They are driving a real dynamic, as evidenced by the first successful deployments of projects for the use of 5G for industry in France. the mobilization of all relevant entities continues so that the promises of this industrial 5G become a reality.”

Roland Lescure, Minister Delegate for Industry: “5G is a pillar of industry 4.0 and the factory of the future, which will be decisive for the success of the productive, ecological and digital transition of our industry. all companies and industrial sectors to take advantage of it, to experiment with its uses and to draw inspiration from the successes that are emerging throughout the territory. frequencies are all additional levers that the Government is deploying to do so”.
