The new generation of Intel Meteor Lake processors should not be long and, with it, a small graphics revolution.

In a few days, Intel should present in more detail its Meteor Lake range, which is presented as a revolution in the way it manufactures processors.

In terms of performance, there is also the question of shaking things up quite a bit with the integration of an Intel ARC graphics solution derived from the founder’s recent dedicated graphics cards.

Beyond the official presentation on December 14, we will of course have to wait for the first independent tests to find out what Meteor Lake really has in its belly.

And again, since these are chips intended for laptops, things will depend a lot on which component is integrated into which laptop to have a clear idea of ​​the performance that we can expect. Still, the first “unofficial” tests are rather encouraging.

Relayed by VideoCardzthe measurements of certain enthusiasts on the Chinese community site BiliBili actually suggest that the Meteor Lake iGPU beats the Radeon 780M, the latest RDNA 3 solution developed by AMD and notably used on the Ryzen 7840U.

Stronger on 3DMark or Cinebench R23

The Meteor Lake processor presented for the occasion is a Core Ultra 7 155H, not far from being the most powerful of the new range with its 6 high-performance cores, its 8 efficient cores and its 2 ultra-low consumption cores. On the graphics side, it integrates an 8 Xe-Core GPU.

Tested on the 3DMark Time Spy stage, the Core Ultra’s iGPU is a clear step ahead of the Ryzen’s Radeon 780M. We’re talking here about 3,077 versus 2,751 points, but things are actually a little more complicated. First of all, in terms of performance, the Core Ultra consolidates its lead with CineBench R23 (15,523 points against 13,127), but clearly loses in OpenCL with 33,418 points when the Radeon 780M obtains 37,211 points.

Furthermore, the battery tests are in favor of the AMD solution, regardless of the test carried out: fixed screen, maximum brightness, video playback or Internet browsing. Each time, the Ryzen 7 7840HS test is between 15 and 20% more autonomous than the Core Ultra 7 155H.
