"The Great Gatsby" becomes a mini-series. A screenwriter has already been found to reinterpret the "Roaring Twenties".

F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel "The Great Gatsby" has already been filmed several times. In 2013, for example, Leonardo DiCaprio (46) slipped into the title role in the successful movie. In the meantime, a series adaptation of the story about the lone millionaire, who lives in frenzy, is in the making. As the US American "The Hollywood Reporter" claims to have exclusively found out, A + E Studios and ITV Studios America are currently working on an expensive "Gatsby" miniseries.

Although no broadcaster or streaming service is yet linked to the project, Michael Hirst (68) is an experienced scriptwriter. Hirst has already written scripts for "The Tudors", "Vikings" and "Elizabeth" and will also act as executive producer for the "Gatsby" implementation. In addition, they have secured the support of the author's family. According to this, a great-granddaughter of F. Scott Fitzgerald named Blake Hazard is on board as a consultant producer.

The "Roaring Twenties" reinterpreted

She is looking forward to delving deeper into the story and its characters with the series: "I've long dreamed of a more diverse, inclusive version of 'Gatsby' that better reflects the America we live in. One that it allows us all to find ourselves in Scott's most romantic text. " Fitzgerald published his novel in 1925 and dealt with the excesses and social changes in the so-called "Roaring Twenties" ("Wild Twenties").

The first-person narrator Nick Carraway meets the decadent millionaire Jay Gatsby and is immediately fascinated by the young man. However, the more Carraway gets to know him, the more he realizes that "The Great Gatsby" is a lonely soul. Because his only true love, Daisy Buchanan, married another man while Gatsby was serving in World War I.
