PARIS (Reuters) – The guitar of Oasis musician Noël Gallagher, which symbolized the sensational separation of the British rock group in 2009, was sold on Tuesday for 300,000 euros during an auction at the Drouot hotel in Paris.

The 1960 Gibson ES-355, red in color, had been broken by Liam Gallagher, Noël’s brother, in August 2009 during an argument – of which they were customary – before a concert as part of the Parisian festival “Rock en Seine “.

The group had finally given up performing and announced shortly after the end of the adventure launched in 1994 with the release of “Definitely Maybe”, a first album which sold more than 22 million copies worldwide.

The instrument was restored in 2011 by a French luthier from London, Philippe Dubreuille, returned to its owner and then sold to a French collector in 2017.

The object was estimated between 300,000 and 500,000 euros.
