As the showrunner of the series has now confirmed, “The Handmaid’s Tale” is not over even after the premiere of the fifth season.

“The Handmaid’s Tale” goes on – and on: Like series creator Bruce Miller according to “Deadline” confirmed, the dystopia starring Elisabeth Moss (40) will have a sixth and final season.

In addition, Miller is said to be working on a spin-off series that is also based on the works of Margaret Atwood (82). The new series, based on Atwood’s book The Testaments, begins years after the events of season six.

Story “as relevant as ever”

“It has been a true honor to tell the story of Margaret Atwood’s seminal novel and its chillingly relevant world, and we are thrilled to bring viewers a sixth and final season,” Miller said in a statement. He goes on to point out that the story “sadly has remained as relevant as ever throughout its run”.

Season 5 of The Handmaid’s Tale premieres on Hulu on September 14th. From November, the new episodes will also be available in Germany via MagentaTV.
