The harmonized inflation index in France is estimated at +5.7% over one year in August 2023

According to the first estimates of the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (Insee) published at 8:45 a.m., the harmonized consumer price index (HICP) in France would stand at 122.1 points in August 2023 (base 100 in 2015). Thus, inflation according to the calculation methods used at European Union level would be +1.1% over one month and +5.7% over one year.

In July 2023, the harmonized consumer price index stood at 120.8 points, showing stable inflation over one month and +5.1% over one year.

What you need to know about this indicator: like the consumer price index (CPI), the harmonized consumer price index makes it possible to measure inflation, i.e. the average variation between 2 dates in the prices of products consumed by households . Set up by the European Union, the HICP makes it possible to compare inflation between each country and to calculate the level of inflation at European level. The HICP is the subject of 2 monthly publications, a provisional one (at the end of the month) and a definitive one (around the 13th of the following month).
