It’s a blow to the head for several million owners of old homes. Some of them will no longer be able to rent them. Indeed, from 2023, the homes with the worst energy ratings – the worst G -, mostly gas-heated properties, will be banned from renting outright. In 2025, it will be the turn of the other Gs, then in 2028, housing rated F, then E in 2034. This is the consequence of measures resulting from a decree on the decency of housing and the climate law in 2021, that went almost unnoticed last year.
As the cleaver gets closer, the concern grows. Especially since since 1er July 2021, the methods for calculating the energy performance diagnosis (EPD), which is mandatory in the event of sale or rental, have changed.
