The absence of Michel Drucker from television screens will lengthen. After a battery of tests in February 2023, the host has just undergone a new operation.

Lovers of Can’t wait for Sunday (France 3) will still have to wait. This Monday, March 20, Michel Drucker had to go on the operating table, reveal our colleagues from Here is. This new heart operation was scheduled after the battery of medical tests suffered by the 80-year-old host in February 2023. In intensive care, Michel Drucker woke up two days after his operation, in the afternoon of Wednesday, March 22. According to the medical profession interviewed by our colleagues, the uncle of Léa and Marie Drucker is doing well and his state of health does not cause any concern.

Last February, Stéphane Sitbon-Gomez, the director of antennas and programs of France Télévisions, explained: “We agreed with Michel that he take the time to rest after his exams. I talk to him every day and he is doing very well.” His return was then announced for mid-April, but viewers will still have to wait before seeing him take over the reins of his show in his red sofa. After his operation, Michel Drucker must still rest until the end of the season.

A nostalgic message

This new operation is reminiscent of the similar one that the host underwent in 2020. Hospitalized for about three months, Michel Drucker had revealed that his “heart [avait] been arrested for a few hours and hooked up to a machine.” He then explained, in an interview with Parisian : “There, I realized I was close to disaster.” The tests he passed last February were also linked to this heavy operation. His last stay in the hospital, however, did not prevent him from speaking to the public. On March 15, the host, already hospitalized, had come out of silence via an SMS sent to his friend and counterpart Pascal Praud. On the occasion of the 90th anniversary of RTL, he wrote a message full of nostalgia, recalling his formative years within the radio channel: “I have fond memories of the RTL years […] I criss-crossed France for ten years, because my show was once a week in the provinces. With my years as a sports reporter on TV, I got to know real people”, he testified. He will have to wait a few more weeks before finding them.
