In France, the risks associated with climate change are still little taken into account. A study sheds valuable light on the debate.
Estimated at more than 50 billion euros per year, the cost of the French economy’s transition to decarbonization is well documented. The cost of the country’s adaptation to climate change (longer heat waves and drought, great climatic variability, reduction in snow cover, etc.) has, however, remained relatively nebulous until now. The study by the Institute for Climate Economics (I4CE), an institution stemming from the Caisse des dépôts and the French Development Agency, published on Thursday, therefore sheds valuable light on the debate.
