The heyday of the French cloud and software flagships internationally


After Meta, Google, Microsoft, the week was also punctuated by the results of the French cloud and software flagships, OVHcloud and Dassault Systèmes. For one, it was the 2022 annual results and for the other, the results of the third quarter that ended.

In both the cloud and software market, the trend is towards internationalization. Let’s run through the numbers.

OVHcloud: “more than 30 customers” for the SecNumCloud

In its financial statement, OVHcloud recorded revenue of 788 million euros for the 2022 financial year, up 18.8% compared to 2021.

However, the group recorded a net loss of 29 million euros over the year, slightly up from 32 million euros in losses for the previous year. In question ? “The impacts stemming from charges related to the IPO, recent acquisitions and the fire in Strasbourg,” the company states.

OVHcloud is betting big on international business, which accounts for 51% of the group’s annual turnover. Asia and the United States are among the regions with the most dynamic growth.

The company has also achieved double-digit growth in sales with global and local partners, which “the number now exceeds 1,100, with more than 500 international”.

At the end of August 2022, OVHcloud offered 81 IaaS and PaaS solutions to its customers, with the number of PaaS solutions available doubling during the year.

The company wrote that its performance over the year 2022 illustrates “the dynamism of the cloud market” and confirms, in particular, “the strong growth prospects of the public cloud and the private cloud”. Driven by a desire to move towards the sovereign and trusted cloud, the group declares that its SecNumCloud offer currently has “more than 30 customers”.

Dassault Systèmes makes science a differentiator

Software giant Dassault Systèmes has released higher quarterly results, confirming its 2022 targets.

Turnover increased by 8% to 1.37 billion euros, driven by software and virtualization, as well as international. The America zone, in particular, experienced growth of 7% and represented 41% of software revenue.

3DExperience software posted sales up 15% over the quarter, while cloud software increased by 21%, the group said in a press release.

The Life Science industry sector is also key. Medidata, a medical software publisher, is experiencing “very strong growth in all of its products and in all of its market segments,” notes Dassault Systèmes.
