Aged about sixty, a hiker died on Thursday. She fell from the famous cliffs of Etretat (Seine-Maritime) while taking a photo, according to the gendarmes: “At the top of the cliff, the victim wanted to take a photo and while holding out her phone, she then stumbled in the void”.
“She was accompanied by her husband and two other couples. The group was hiking,” said a policeman. A death that is not the first. Indeed, at the beginning of January, a 24-year-old woman had also died falling from these famous cliffs, at the time of a photo. “She allegedly backed up accidentally, either taking a picture or having her picture taken,” the gendarmes said.
In 2013, a hiker in her thirties also killed herself. A fatal fall, while she was photographing the site.
