The hotel and catering industry denounces a 200% increase in tourist tax in Ile-de-France

(AOF) – “The text retained by the government for the 2024 finance bill retains article 27 ter on the 200% increase in the tourist tax in Paris and Ile de France for the year 2024” denounce Umih and GNC, organizations representing the hotel and catering sector. The two groups criticize “sham negotiations” whether between Ile de France Mobilités and the Government or between the government and professional organizations, “despite mobilization of the sector from September”.

“The professionals proposed scenarios which took into account the need for financing transport in the Ile-de-France region, retained the proportionality of the tax while drastically reducing the increase in the tourist tax applied to hotels”, they specify, “rejected scenarios one after the other.”

“Article 27 ter adopted will represent an annual collection of 423 million euros, well above the financing need of 200 million euros indicated by IDF Mobilités and the government!” estimate the Umih and the GNC.
