Both powerful and easy to use, the fourth virtual reality headset of HTC relies on a tracking system inside out. In practice, it is sensors positioned directly on the helmet that track the movement of the joysticks. No need to bother with tedious installation. For those preferring to go through the platform SteamVR, the helmet is modular provided you acquire the appropriate additional equipment (Long Live Wand/Valve Index or the package Cosmos Elite).
Despite its two screens 90Hz of 1440 x 1700 pixels, HTC announces a modest minimum configuration based on FX-8350 Where i5 4590 accompanied by a GTX970 or a R9 290. If you want to take full advantage of the qualities of this helmet, a more recent configuration, and muscular, will however be welcome.
These screens distill more than honorable performances, delivering a fine, fluid and faithful image. The sound delivered by the on-ear headphones integrated is also of good quality, ensuring optimal immersion quality. Passed by the laboratory of our colleagues from Digital, the Vive Cosmos has proven that its simplicity of installation and use was its biggest strong point alongside the quality of image and sound. If motion tracking with the solution inside out is not quite up to the other models of the manufacturer or the competition, the Long live Cosmos still doing well.
Launched at a price of 799 €, the Vive Cosmos is quite elitist. But fortunately, Cdiscount takes advantage of the sales to offer an attractive offer, lowering its price to only €349.99. This is therefore a solid entry into the world of VR for a rather exceptional price for this type of material.
