As always, Sony Interactive Entertainment systematically tests PS5 updates ahead of their release.   • Controller speaker improvements: Now you can more clearly distinguish sounds and voices in games
  • Improved noise cancellation: Mic pickup is better thanks to the use of artificial intelligence. An improvement that removes button noise or in-game audio
  • The sounds emitted by the controller are louder
    • To lower the volume, go to Control Center
  • Customizing Screen Sharing
    • It is possible to use emojis to interact with the person sharing their gaming session
    • Cursors can be moved, a line drawn and you can ping a specific point in order to direct a friend who needs help in game (see the screen below)
      • If you don’t want to see this basic functionality, it can be deactivated in the Screen Sharing settings
  • Adjust the brightness of the PS5 power indicator
    • In addition to the basic bright setting, two other modes are available: low and medium

After the option to disable an iconic feature, the PS5’s startup beep, Sony allows you to adjust the console’s power light. However, it is impossible to turn it off completely. Indeed, in the three settings offered, namely low, medium and bright, there is no choice to deactivate the light indicator. To configure this aspect, go to the PlayStation 5 settings:

  • Go to PS5 settings
  • Then in “System”
  • Look for “Sound and light signal” below HDMI
  • Choose “Light” and one of the settings
