The Idol: the series with Lily Rose-Depp and The Weeknd promises to be more scandalous than ever (and it already has a date!)

Expected at the Cannes Film Festival and carried by Canadian artist The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp, the series “The Idol” is revealed more with a new trailer and a release date. Finally !

Even before its release, The Idol caused a lot (a lot) of ink to flow. It is no coincidence that the Cannes Film Festival chose the series for an out-of-competition presentation. After numerous rumors and articles published in the press on the chaotic backstage of the program, the mystery rises little by little. To begin with, there is a release date: June 5 on Prime Video via the Warner Pass.

To accompany this information, a new trailer has been put online. Paced by the title Gimme More by Britney Spears, the images promise a sulphurous series that seems to push the limits. The plot follows the toxic and dangerous relationship between Jocelyn (Lily-Rose Depp), a globally successful young pop star, and Tedros (The Weeknd), the bizarre boss of a nightclub.

Check out the new trailer:

Touring from the end of 2021, The Idol had complicated production. Departure of director Amy Seimetz following disagreements, rewriting of the script, questioning of the morals of creator Sam Levinson (Euphoria)… The tornado behind the scenes even gave rise to an investigation carried out by RollingStone which reveals the ambient chaos.

There is no doubt that the first two episodes which will be screened on the Croisette will ignite festival-goers. The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp are expected on the red carpet.

The Idol, June 5 on Prime Video.
