Allocated to 800,000 families, the family support allowance will be increased by 50% from November 2022, as announced by the Government. Here is who will be able to benefit from it.

It was one of Emmanuel Macron’s campaign promises. While the Government has passed its law on purchasing power, many allowances will soon experience a revaluation. Good news for French households strongly impacted by inflation. After the back-to-school allowance and the end of the TV license fee, it is the turn of the family support allowance (ASF), also called “minimum alimony”, to be revalued from this month of November 2022, and this, by 50%. Allocated to 800,000 single-parent families, it is paid by the family allowance funds (Caf) or the Mutualité sociale agricole (MSA).

Fixed at 122.93 euros per month and per dependent child, the allowance will therefore increase to 184.41 euros with the revaluation, i.e. a increase of 61.46 euros every month. For a person who has taken in a child deprived of the help of both parents, the allowance will increase from 163.87 euros at 245.80 euros per month and per child. For those who already benefit from this aid, know that you will not have to do anything for the revaluation to be applied, since it will be done automatically. Its first installment is scheduled for December 5, 2022.

Who can benefit from this allowance?

If this help is timely for many households, it does not concern everyone. In fact, this minimum alimony is intended to single-parent familieseither a person raising one or more children alone, or a person who cares for a deprived child of one or both parents. This allowance can also be issued when the alimony is in the process of being fixed, when it cannot be paid by the other parent, or when its amount is lower than the family support allowance. “A third of single-parent families live in poverty, and most are women”, explained a few months ago the Minister of Solidarity, Jean-Christophe Combe. To receive it, it is necessary to reside in France and to fulfill the legal residence conditions for persons of foreign nationality.
