The Indian low-cost airline IndiGo announced on Monday June 19 that it had ordered 500 single-aisle Airbus A320neo family aircraft, the largest volume contract ever concluded in civil aviation.

This command closes “historical”, at a theoretical list price of $55 billion, was revealed on the first day of the Paris Air Show by IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers in the presence of Airbus Executive Chairman Guillaume Faury. It concerns devices to be delivered between 2030 and 2035.

These new aircraft – the A320neo family also includes the A321neo, with a larger seat capacity – bring to no less than 1,230 the number of models of this type ordered by the company, which intends to surf on the explosion of the demand for air travel in India.
